Today, I'd like to share with you one of my favorite true stories, written by John Wayne "Jack" Schlatter, educator and author of Gifts by the Side of the Road. It is a story that has been passed along for over three decades.

It is about how a simple gesture - an act of kindness - dramatically altered the direction of where a young life was headed, one fateful day.

No matter how many times I watch it, I always choke up at just how simple it can, in fact, be to transform and/or even save someone's life. It is my hope that you are moved by it, too, because reaching out to help pick up the life of another person is, amazingly, always the best gift we can give ourselves!
